Beauty and Make Up

The eyes are the windows to the soul, as we’re told. They are the focal point of your face. People look you in the eyes when they speak to you – not the mouth or cheek. It’s important to keep your eyes looking bright and sharp.

Eyes

Make your eyes even more stunning – they’re the first thing people notice when they look at you, after all. Whether through under-eye concealer, eye makeup, or eyelash extensions, here’s how to make your eyes as lovely as they can be.

A good concealer can lighten under-eye shadows that can be caused by lack of sleep or a hereditary lack of pigment in the eye area. Tired eyes can be refreshed with eye drops like Visine, that hide a bloodshot look by constricting the tiny veins that appear against the surface. This is a great occasional fix, but nothing takes the place of a good night’s sleep and adequate hydration. White eyeliner at the inner corners of the eye can also brighten your look and make small eyes appear larger.

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, extending your lashes meant false eyelashes, awkward glue and mountains of mascara. Those days are gone. There are currently a plethora of mascaras on the market that not only enhance lashes, but lengthen, strengthen, thicken and tint them.

Many women are opting for longer-lasting options like eyelash tinting and eyelash extenders. Tinting is like getting a dye job for your eyes, and can be done to both brows and lashes using a solution of dye that won’t irritate most eyes. Eyelash extensions are a semi-permanent weave into your natural lash line that makes your lashes longer and thicker without any need for mascara. Available in different lengths and thicknesses, eyelash extensions need to be touched up every 2-3 weeks according to the natural shed cycle of your lashes.

Eyelash extensions and tinting should only be done by trusted professionals that have adequate training to perform the procedures. Your eyes are a reflection of who you are – make yours as bright and beautiful as you are!

Facials

To be spoilt is to have a deluxe facial. Lay there and have me do all the work for you while you listen to soothing music.
In a deluxe facial you receive a double cleanse, then a gentle exfoliation with micro fine quartz crystals I then do a skin analysis to determine the correct mask for you. The mask is left on the face for about ten minutes. In that time I give you a nice hand massage . The mask is removed with warn water, this is followed with a 10 min facial and deluxe massage . This hydrates and relaxes the skin, and you. Warm towels are applied to remove excess oils, then a moisturizer to suit your skin type.

It is best not to apply make up straight after a facial .

IPL Skin Rejuvination

Facial for Toning and Tightening

One of the most effective ways to improve skin texture, fade pigmentation and minimise diffuse background redness is with IPL skin rejuvenation, sometimes called photorejuvination. IPL skin rejuvenation is a safe gradual process and this allows patients to return to work and their regular activities without risk of “downtime”.

Before and After

Skin Care

Step 1. Cleansers and Toners

Cleansing is the most frequently practised skincare step and is the most essential. Cleansing not only eliminates make-up, perspiration and oily secretions but also all of the impurities which have settled in the skin during the day such as dust, smoke and other environmental enemies.

Cleansing conditions the skin and increases the effectiveness of all other products applied from rich milks and crèmes to foaming cleansers and gels.

Toners are important to complete cleansing as they rinse and balance the skin. There is a complementary toner to suit every  cleanser.

Cleansers and Toners effectively lift surface impurities and are pH balanced with the skin. The correct pH balance (4.7) is necessary for your skin’s natural acid mantle to function as a protective shield against external aggressions. Maintaining the natural acid mantle is critical to healthy skin.

Eye make-up remover should be used to cleanse the eyes of eyeshadow, pencil and mascara. Your face cleanser is not designed to be used around the eyes due to the delicate and sensitive nature of this area of the face.

Step 2. Exfoliators

Exfoliation is a simple and highly effective cleansing treatment which softens the skin and improves radiance.

Why use exfoliating products?

Exfoliating is an essential step to clear, pure and youthful-looking skin. Exfoliating:

  • Lifts impurities and dead surface skin cells; helping to preserve and promote the purity and youthful radiance of the skin
  • Stimulates cellular renewal, helping prevent and diminish visible signs of ageing (fine lines, wrinkles) and maintaining naturally firm, supple skin
  • Increases the skin’s receptivity to, and the effectiveness of, complementary treatment products.

Step 3. Masques

Why should women use treatment masques?

The skin often needs a deep-down treatment. Instead of the cost and inconvenience of visiting a beauty salon each week, applying a masque after exfoliation provides a thorough at-home treatment. For best results, use two to three times a week.

Facial masques offer different benefits:

  • Detoxifying
  • Hydrating
  • Firming

Step 4. Moisturisers

Moisturisers – or day crèmes – are designed to replenish the skin and provide protection.
The skin is exposed to environmental factors such as pollution, sun, wind and air conditioning which all contribute to stripping the skin of its moisture and increasing sensitivity and dehydration.
Different moisturisers for different skin types and conditions. They contain a range of ingredients such as antioxidants, moisture-boosting ingredients as well as sun filters.
To apply your moisturiser: gently smooth over face and neck after cleansing and toning, avoiding the eye area.

Step 5: Night Crèmes

Night crème is like food for the skin. While your day crème provides moisture to the skin during the day, your night crème provides its nourishment, replenishing any nutrients lost during the day.
To apply your night crème: gently smooth over face and neck after cleansing and toning, avoiding the eye area.

Step 6. Serums

Serums are concentrated formulations designed to penetrate to a deeper level of the epidermis, carrying intense treatment ingredients to where the skin needs them most.
Serums can be used in place of your night crème (if your skin is not too dry) or under your day or night crème (as required).

Step 7. Eye Products

The eye area is one of the first places to show signs of ageing because the skin around the eyes is much thinner, more fragile and does not contain oil glands.
It is important to use products designed specifically for the eye area which are ophthalmologically tested for use around the eyes. Not only is the eye area prone to premature ageing, it also dehydrates more rapidly which results in the formation of crow’s feet and fine lines.
From the age of 15 years, it is advisable to use an eye product every day. This will help to soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles as well as protect the eye area from future damage.
To apply eye products: with a small amount on the fingertips, gently pat around the eye contours until completely absorbed.
